Improvement works to the value of 179,000 euros are to be carried out on the municipal baths in Maó following damage caused by leaks a few months ago.
The project includes replacing obsolete machinery and renewing the pool’s surround and work is due to start shortly and be completed by 1st October when swimming classes for young children start.
The work will improve the quality and safety of the 25-year old pool which is used by an average of 400 people per day from Monday to Friday. Once the project has been completed, the pool will be able to open more hours and more days than at present. Until now it has been closed on Sundays for maintenance work but the new motors will make this unnecessary.
