So far 58% of the 179 kilometres of path have been signposted; one of the tasks remaining is to erect fences and gates to ensure cattle do not escape Bridle path. 179 kilometres in length and encircling the island close to the coastlineC.M.W. Maó The Camí de Cavalls bridle path, which encircles the island only a few metres from the coastline, is gradually being readied for use by members of the public, whether on foot, bicycle or horseback. So far 58% of the route has been signposted, that is, 103 of the 179 kilometres that make up the path which recently become public property, following proceedings that lasted eight years and cost two million euros. Once all the signposts are in position, a 40,000 euro project which should be completed by the end of the year, work will start on erecting fences and gates along the path to ensure that livestock is kept enclosed within the fields.
