"Sant Martí" local fiestas
Es Mercadal town's main local celebration, where the horses and the music are the main attraction.

PROGRAMME OF THE FIESTA 20th July 2013
At 5 p.m., Ringing of bells. When when the fabioler, Francesc Gomila Pons goes to the Council to ask permission to start the fiesta and will play the first touch of the fabiol. Afterwards, will call for the a caixera sobreposada, Catalina Barber Villalonga, and together they find la bandera of thew town. Afterwards, will find the other caixers of the Qualcada doing laps on the streets of the town. Along its route,find the caixer pagès, Joan Marquès Servera i el caixer casat, Jaume Villalonga Carreras.
The parade will take place simultaneously with the band of Es Mercadal, directed by Litus Arguimbau. They will be accompanied the Giants through main streets of the town.
At 6 pm, caixer capellà, Rev. Joan Tutzó Sans, a la plaça de l’Església; then go to main street.No 5 to collect the caixer batle, Lluís Arjona Camps . Moving to Mayor of the municipality, Francesc Pons, Then follow the route through the streets of the village until you reach plaça Constitució, where at 7 p.m. There will be the traditional JALEO
When finished, the caixers will be in the Central streets of the town.
At 23: 45 h, at the Church of l’església de Sant Martí, the SOLEMN celebration, COMPLETE with the caixers, caixeres and authorities.
When the ceremony, reception, and guests finish; there will be drinks.

8.30 pm, DIANA drums and Bugles by the band Dalt Sant Joan.
At 9 p.m., departure from the fabioler, who will do the same as the prior day to start the tour of the streets of the town.
At 11.00 am in the plaça Constitució, JALEO and delivery of green canes.
Then, MISSA SOLEMNE a l’església de Sant Martí with the assistance of caixers and authorities, in the course of which they will distribute the rose water
After the mass: reception offered by the City Hall to the caixers and the rest of the village. During this ceremony, the Mayor will receive the flag from the caixera sobreposada
After this reception, the caixers will accompany the caixer batle and the caixer capellà to their respective homes and will make the last touch of drum
