Situated in a converted town house in Mercadal’s paved square, the restaurant is large with a bar area at the front and dining both at the front and back, which enjoys natural light from a cleverly designed glass roof, as well as upstairs.Outdoor tables and chairs to enjoy a coffee
Tast opened four years ago earning a reputation for its inventive cuisine which offers a creative and modern twist on Spanish favourites.
Starters include Carpaccio of Ox or Pigs Trotters, duck breast with seasonal fruit salad, a prawn and mint vinaigrette salad or ravioli with cheese and spinach.
Main course specialities include the slowly roasted small shoulder of crispy Menorcan lamb, the twice roasted suckling pig with truffle oil, loin of hake with salsa verde and the wood grilled octopus, all served with potatoes and vegetables to complement the dish.
The dessert menu home made ice creams, fried chocolate truffles with passion fruit and ice cream, creamy coffee ice cream with baileys, figs with ice cream and Tast’s own special Gin Tonic ice cream.
House wine and selection of around 100 wines for different regions of Spain, including Rias Baixas, Rioja, Ribera del Duero and Penedes.
Menu del Dia at €15 with a choice of three courses with dessert, wine and water, the Menu del Dia offers superb value for fine dining with choices including a fish tart with gourmet salad, hake with piperrada, roast ham with potatoes parmentier and tagliatelli with salmon.
The Gastronomic menu at €27 , a great way to sample a ‘Taste of Tast’ for two or more people, with a selection of starters to share, a choice of two fish and two meat main courses, dessert, bread, wine and water.
The Tapas menu, with choices such as the crunchy bacon with plum sauce, octopus with potatoes and paprika and marinated sardines with aubergines and tomato reduction, will certainly excite the tastebuds for a return visit.
There are also special promotions each month. And, for special events, Calderetas (special Menorcan Lobster or Crayfish stews) and grilled lobster can be ordered in advance. A la Carte is also available
Open daily, all year round from 11.00 in the morning (closed only on Mondays in winter).
Booking advisable especially at weekends and during the summer months. The kitchen is shut between 16.00 and 20.00 hours, but the tapas menu is available throughout the day.
