YuzuJapanese Restaurant
Japanese food, all freshly prepared to order using local and specially imported ingredients from Japan.
Opened a year ago, the restaurant is simply and attractively furnished with a extensive menu, based on using the freshest of raw fish, features Japanese favourites as well as lesser known dishes and the friendly waiting staff are always happy to help you with the menu.
Salads from €9.90 and soups including Miso at €4.50.
Main courses Yaki Sake (pieces of salmon pan friend with soy sauce), Gyozas (a type of ravioli with meat, vegetables and a honey sauce) and Niku Dango (Japanese style meatballs) from €8.50.
Noodle dishes include Yaki Soba (stir fried with salmon and prawns with vegetables in a sweet and sour sauce) at €11 and Yaki Udom Soba (thick noodles stir fried with tuna, asparagus, broccoli and chilli) at €12.
Also Tempuras of prawns, squid and vegetables from €8.00 and Teppanyakis of salmon, tuna, steak or Japanese duck from €10, cooked on a traditional Japanese grill.
For Sushi lovers, a wide selection of Nigiris, Sashimis and Makis featuring tuna, salmon, sea bass, prawns, hake, octopus and eel. Other sushi highlights include Uramakis (larger with the rice on the outside of the filling), Special Futomakis, rice rolled in seaweed with various fillings and fried, and Temakis, different fillings wrapped in seaweed from €9. The combination platters, such as the Sushi Bento served in a box, are a great way to try the different types of Sushi. All served on bamboo standing trays and are accompanied by a little bowl of piquant sauce and wasabi (hot) paste.
In addition to ice creams, traditional Japanese desserts include sweet rice filled with chocolate, sweet rice rolls with mango and cream and crispy rice with fresh fruit.
Red, white and rose wines start at €10, beers, cavas and, of course, sake, are also available as is green tea.
Menu del Dia at €15 from Monday to Friday and a special weekend Menu del Dia at €20.
Take away service available
The restaurant also has two private rooms with tatamis (special straw mattresses) where groups of up to eight people can eat in traditional Japanese style.
Situated in the square at the top of Es Pla on Ciutadella port, Yuzu is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday from 13.00 to 15.00 hours and then again from 20.00 until midnight.
