Roman cremation tombs found under Plaça Príncep
Two Roman tombs have been unearthed during excavations in Maós Plaça Príncep, an area already known to have been the site of a Roman cemetery. Believed to date from the first or second century A.D. the tombs were cut from the rock and covered with flagstones with no inscriptions. They contain pottery items, in good condition, that would have been buried with the cremated remains of bodies.
Exploratory excavations will be carried out within the area undergoing reforms, to determine whether there are more finds to be made.
