Cala en Porter Fiesta 2010
Saturday 18th September
1100 hrs. Sandcastle competition for children of all ages on the beach with judging at 1230 hrs.
1300 hrs. Children’s party with the arrival of King Neptune bearing gifts for the children.
1430 hrs. Paella on the beach. Price 6 euros per person.
1700 hrs. Parade of majorettes, giants, carnival figures and the Alaior Bugle and Drum Band.
1800 hrs. The traditional cavalcade sets out from the Plaza de la Iglesia for the Municipal Building where the fiesta flag will be handed over and the ‘Caixera President’, Catherine Hathorn, will join in. The riders will then tour the streets of the urbanisation.
1830 hrs. ‘Jaleo’ on the beach with music from Los Muchachos.
2230 hrs. Singing and dancing from the Casa de Andalucía group in Plaza Gran.
0030 hrs. Open-air dance with the Orquesta Huracán.
Sunday 19th September
0900 hrs. Reveille with a burst of firecrackers and the Alaior Bugle and Drum Band.
0930 hrs. Chocolate and cake for everyone at the Municipal Building.
0950 hrs. The cavalcade again sets out around the streets. Cala en Porter Fiestas bring an end to the fiesta season archives Jaleo. Catherine Hathorn will again act as ‘Caixera President’
1130 hrs. Mass for the riders in the Municipal Building.
1215 hrs. ‘Jaleo’ in the Plaza de la Iglesia with music from Los Muchachos
and the presentation of green canes and silver spoons to the participating riders.
1500 hrs. Reception in the Municipal Building for authorities, residents and visitors.
1800 hrs. Menorcan dressage exhibition next to the Siestamar.
1900 hrs. Exhibition by the Alaior Majorettes in the Plaza Grande.
2030 hrs. Folkdancing from the group Es Born.
2400 hrs. Firework display in the Plaza de la Iglesia.
