Ferreries Fiesta 2010 (Sant Bartomeu)
Monday 23rd August
12.00 The flag of the Patron Saint, Sant Bartomeu is presented to the Caixer Sobreposat, at the town hall, followed by the first notes being played on the flute. The Ferreries Municipal Band then plays the Ferreries anthem and the traditional little candles are distributed to the townspeople.
Bells and rockets announce the start of the festivities. The giants and carnival giants then set out round the streets, accompanied by the band.
5.00pm The cavalcade sets out, led by the Caixer Batle and the priest.
After the first tours of the streets, the traditional Jaleo takes place, followed by tours of carrer de Sant Bartomeu, Carrer de sa Font, Carrer de Pau Pons, Carrer de sa l'Esgésia. Mass is subsequently heard at the parish church of Sant Bartomeu, in honour of the Patron Saint.
Tuesday 24th August
8.00am Lively révillé round the streets with the giants and carnival figures, and the Ferreries Band
9.00am The Qualcada sets out round the streets, ending in the Pla de l'Església with the Jaleo, followed by the presentation of the traditional green canes and silver spoons to the participating horsemen. They then tour the streets of Carrer Pau Pons and Carrer Nou, returning to the church for mass, which is attended by the Caixers and town dignities. The typical beguda takes place at the town hall, during which the Municipal Band entertains with various tunes from their repertoire. The traditional aigua-ross is then distributed to the townspeople
