Just wondering if you have a timetable of events for the fiesta next week please.
After all, that's the reason we coming over on 15th - 20th ;D

Jacquip not yet they are slacking as it is usually out by now. All I know for defo is that the neighbourhood dinner is next wednesday. Don´t worry I will put it on as soon as I know keep checking in lol

Sant Martí - Es Mercadal Fiesta
Saturday, 17th
1700 hrs. Peal of bells. This will be when the ‘fabioler’ (flautist) Francesc Gomila Pons goes to the Town Hall to ask permission to start the fiesta and will play the first note on the ‘fabiol’ (flute). He will then go to find the ‘caixera sobreposada’, Regina Sintes Triay, and together they will go to the Town Hall for the flag. Then they will collect together the other riders in the cavalcade, touring the streets of the town. En route they will pick up from their respective homes the ‘caixer pagès’, Joan Fullana Pelegrí, and the ‘caixer casat’, Pere Vadell Pons.
At the same time, the Banda de Es Mercadal, conducted by Litus Arguimbau, will parade through the town, accompanied by the giants and carnival figures, passingalong the town’s main streets, together with the Colla de Geganters de Maó.
1800 hrs. The ‘caixer capellà’, Rev. Francesc J. Cardona Vidal, will be collected from the Plaza de líEsglésia, following which they will go to Avenida Ronda de síEstància, Nº 29, to collect the ‘caixer batle’, Francesc Ametller Pons, who will presideover the cavalcade.
Once the retinue is complete, they will go to the Town Hall, where the ‘caixer batle’ will receive from the deputy mayor, Rosa Palliser, the staff which gives him maximum authority over the cavalcade. They will them continue through the streets of the town to the Plaza Constitució, where the traditional ‘JALEO’ will take place at 1900 hrs.
At the end they will do the ‘CARAGOL’ through the town’s central streets.
2345 hrs. in the Sant Martí church, Celebration of COMPLINE, attended by the riders and authorities. During this act the youngest riders will hand out the traditional ‘candeletes’ (small candles which are normally kept alight until arrival at the ‘Beguda de Caixers’). Once this has finished the cavalcade’s riders are invited to a feast in the old people’s home.
At the same time there will be an OFFICIAL RECEPTION in the Town Hall for the authorities and guests.
0030 hrs. in the Plaza Constitució, DANCE with the Dúo Melody.
0100 hrs. in the Plaza Pare Camps, MUSICAL PERFORMANCE from the TEMPTATIONS.
After this, the fiesta will continue with music from Miquel and Febre.
Sunday, 18th
0830 hrs. REVEILLE with the Dalt Sant Joan Bugle and Drum Band.
0900 hrs. The ‘fabioler’ sets out on the same route as the previous day to start collecting the riders from the streets in the town.
1100 hrs. in the Plaza Constitució, ‘JALEO’ and presentation of the ‘canyes verdes’ (green canes). Followed by MASS in the Sant Martí church attended by riders and authorities, during which ‘aigua-ros’ (rosewater) will be handed out. At the end, we will go to the reception put on at the Town Hall for the riders and ‘la Sala’. During this act the mayor will receive the flag from the ‘sobreposat’.
Following the reception, the riders will accompany the ‘caixer batle’ and the ‘caixercapellà’ to their respective homes to take their leave and the last note will be played on the ‘fabiol’.
During the afternoon, the youngest riders will distribute ‘aigua-ros’ to homes in the town.
