Forest firefighting service on stand-by in Menorca
The period when there is most risk of forest fires on the island has now started and will last until 15th October.
The forest firefighting force has now been mobilised in readiness to respond to any threat of brush fires. There are two fixed lookout points in Menorca and two mobile ones, one airborne vigilance unit to cover all the Balearic Islands, one ground brigade with one fire engine in Menorca and a light helicopter based in Ciutadella.
