Mesón Galicia
We went for a brilliant meal with Jackie & Stephen last week to the local restaurante at the end of our street (never been before in 3 years lol). Anyhow would highly recommend it as the food is lovely and you get pleanty of it!!!
Starters
Chris had squid rings with wedge of Lemon (too many to count on a big plate) First time Chris had eaten these and loved them!!!
Main
Chris and I both had - Steak in pepper sauce with asparagus, grilled green peppers and baked potatoe with sauce similar to salad cream. I must say I asked for it well done (no blood) and it is the best steak I have had so far here done to perfection!!
Dessert
Both had the Galican house cake which was similar to a dryish sponge cake with a sherry like shot glass to pour over the cake which I must say complimented it
The owner also gave us a galcán snaps WHICH BLOWS YOUR HEAD OFF (and he said poco poco but believe me you cannot do that as it is rocket fuel and best to drink in one go) this would be perfect on a cold winters day as really warms the cockles lol
Clean establishment, good food and good service all round. Would defo go again

Meson Galicia is well worth a visit - think this is our favourite restaurant - went there twice, once with Mr & Mrs Pigeonpie and once on our own.
On the evening we went with Mr & Mrs Pigeonpie, we drunk a couple of bottles of Rioja between 3 of us, Stephen and I shared starters of Grilled Vegetables - asparagus, mushrooms, tomatoes, aubergine, onion, peppers, marrow, courgettes, - and Moules Marinier, for mains Stephen had Grilled Suckling pig which came with the jacket potato and carrots, and I had Baby Pig which was like boiled gammon, with new potatoes and a Galician vegetable which was a cross between spinach and cabbage.
I had a dessert of chocolate brownie, finishing off with coffees all round and the strong liquer which was rocket fuel and Stephen had the sweet one.
A most pleasant evening - and the 3 hours we were in there just flew by - compnay and food were both exceptional .
We went in on our own on the Thursday - again we shared starters but this time had the Fried squid rings and the Grilled Vegetables, Stephen had the pepper steak and I had steak with no sauce, a bottle of the Rioja again, I had 2 slabs of cheesecake - a cross between creme caramel and rice pudding - couldnt eat it all and Stephen was just about to order himself some when I said no finish mine off instead as there was just tooo much. Coffees and the liquers to end.
Recommend this restaurant -
Via Ronda 20, Es Mercadal - Tel 971 15 40 98
Open every day but not on Mondays.
We ate a la carte but they do a Menu del dia for 20euros with a choice from 6 starters, 6 mains, and 6 puddings inclusive of bread and wine.
