Proposed new regulations for Maó prohibit unsocial behaviourThe proposed new regulations to govern the use of public areas in Maó, which is to be approved shortly, will decree that terraces belonging to bars, cafeterias and restaurants in the old centre of the town, will have to be left open, although those in other parts of Maó can be enclosed by canvas walls. In general, a 1.5 metre passage must be left between the facade of the establishment and the tables on the terrace, expect where this is not viable. In cases where the pavement is too narrow to allow this margin to be left, the Council may authorise the use of part of the road reserved for parking. C.M.W. - Maó read more...
