Dangerous Animals
Owners of dangerous animals which are kept in their homes in Maó are being reminded that they must have the appropriate licence as well as having measures in place in the home to keep the animals secure. When outdoors, dogs of certain breeds must be muzzled and kept on a short lead. These particular breeds are banned between the hours of 0700 and 2200 from specified areas: near schools:in recreation areas:and any other public spaces. The law covers dogs, reptiles, fish and spiders. Fines range up to 15,000€ abandonment of such an animal carrying the highest penalty.
