As part of the Balearic Government’s ongoing attempt to reduce unemployment through public works, Menorca is to receive 4,170,000 euros under the ‘Districts’ Law’ to carry out five projects of improvements in different towns.
In Mercadal improvements to streets in the centre of the town will cost 1.05 million euros with 951,336 being provided by the Balearic Government.
The work will include improvements to the drinking water supply and rainwater collection system. Telephone and low tension cables will be laid underground. The areas of Metrge Camps, Lepanto, Plaça Constitució, Carrer Nou and Plaça General Albis will be resurfaced. The open area accessed from Calle Lepanto will be renovated and resurfaced.
