Farm buildings hit by sudden whirlwind
The Alcaidusset farm situated on the main road five and a half kilometres from Maó suffered substantial damage after being hit by a whirlwind during a storm nine days ago. Five barns lost part of their roofs and dozens of trees were uprooted including figs and centuries-old wild olive trees. Fortunately the occupants of the farm and their hundred cattle, 300 goats and 80 pigs were all unscathed. As the farm was not insured, the farmer is hoping for some financial compensation from the authorities.
