Wage freeze for Maó Councillors next year
Maó’s Mayor and Councillors are to have their wages frozen next year and the political parties’ expenses are to be reduced in an effort to cut the wages bill by around 10%.
The Council has 21 members of whom six, plus the Mayor, are full-time. The others are paid for attending the various meetings and sitting on commissions (371.34 euros for each normal Council meeting, 259 for House business committees and 55.70 for informative committees). The reductions should bring about a saving of 6,723.90 euros next year.
