Eroski campaign saves 2.8 million plastic bags
Since the start of Eroski’s “Double Saving” campaign, the supermarket chain’s customers in the Balearic Islands have saved 28,286 euros by avoiding the use of 2,828,677 plastic bags and being rewarded by the company for being environmentally aware.
The campaign has been well-accepted by Eroski’s customers in Menorca where nearly 230,000 bags have been saved to date.
The computerised tills in the outlets have been adapted to automatically calculate the number of bags that would be needed for each person’s shopping and to discount 1 cent from the bill for each bag not used.
