Redesign of the central part of Cala en Porter to go ahead

An estimated cost of 693,000 euros will lead to action that will change the face of Cala en Porter in 2008 with new public buildings and open space

The whole project will take around five months to complete and it is hoped that everything will be completed before the start of the next summer season.

Cala en Porter opened a new meeting space

Pau MORLÀ stressed that the multi-functional area of urbanization, of 5,000 square metres, responds to the demand for services for the whole year

The urbanization of Cala en Porter has, since early this summer, with a new multi-functional area that encompasses municipal administrative services and various spaces for the use of residents and tourists. Yesterday was formally inaugurated this "public gathering space" as has been baptized in the Plan Dynamism of tourism products, under which have joined forces of the four administrations (municipality of Alaior, Consell island, and Govern balear Turespaña) and hotel associations of Minorca.

Pau MORLÀ, mayor of Alaior, said that this complex of some 5,000 square metres built--600 meters, covering "many needs and demands" linked to space tourist Cala en Porter, but added that "it is a first step" towards more projects they tend to put this value in urbanization, under the sign of quality. He also emphasized that the multifunctional space will be used "throughout the year", especially by the neighborhood associations, which have their home here.
