District Governor visits Maó
Last Tuesday the District Governor, Vicente Juan i Verdú, and his wife Eva (herself a past president of the Rotary Club in Altea) joined the Rotary Club of Menorca for their weekly lunch meeting. Juan i Verdú took office on 1st July and will head District 2203 which encompasses the eastern area of Spain, Andalucia and the Balearic Islands until the end of June 2010.
During his speech the District Governor praised the local club for its LifeStraw programme which supplies units for purifying water to disaster areas. He promised that the district would support the project which has raised around 80,000 euros to date.
Juan i Verdú also congratulated the club on starting a Rotaract Club, which is aimed at the 18-30 year olds, the new generation of Rotarians.The projects planned by the local club earned a “10” from the District Governor.
