Santa Águeda
The Ministerio de Fomento and the Consell Insular have signed an agreement to restore the roof of the chapel at Sant Águeda at a cost of 101.902 Euros. The chapel was installed on the hill near Ferreries where the 10th century ruins of the Moorish fortress are found. Alfonso 111 ordered its construction when he conquered the island in 1287- For many years it was abandoned and finally converted into a farmhouse long in disuse, which altered the chapels original architecture. The chapels vault built of stone and mortar, is in danger of collapsing. Few examples of this type remain. Most of the vaulted ceilings in Menorca are made from limestone blocks.
