New cheese for island
A young Italian has begun producing a cheese more associated with his home country. Alessandro Russo, from Sorrento, is adding Mozzarella to the list of locally produced cheeses.
The product is made at Son Tema in the municipality of Es Mercadal, next to the Me-1 road. He believes he is producing a cheese of superior quality to that of his homeland, due to the quality of the feed that the cows are reared on. They produce 2,500 litres of milk per day.
