First knee transplant carried out in Menorca
The Mateu Orfila Hospital has successfully carried out the island’s first partial knee transplant, with help from a surgeon from Barcelona.
The patient was a 26-year old woman who had suffered an accident and had mobility problems. She has now returned home after the operation and, although she will have to attend physiotherapy for three to four months, all being well, she should be able to lead a normal life once again.
