New Age Concern Shop - San Clemente
The property comprises a large front office, a meeting room, and a large rear storage area
It is situated on the main street of San Clemente just across the road from Can Dulce the chocolate shop
The front office will be open to the public (from mid-June on wards) 6 days a weed (Monday - Saturday) in the mornings and will be manned by a volunteer.
Anyone can come in for advice or information, to pick up leaflets and fact sheets, to join the organisation, to sign up as a volunteer, to arrange a meeting with a member of the Committee, etc
The meeting room has several potential uses. Firstly, it will be a private room where confidential conversations can take place. It will also be used by Don Hyatt of SSAFA for his work, and will be available for meetings with other organisations, and members of the media. Hopefully it will be used for group activities, such as Spanish lessons, computer workshops, lawyers surgeries etc and much much more!
The large area at the rear of the shop will be used to rehouse Johns equipment - the wheelchairs, crutches, commodes etc.
In 2005 Dr Beatrice Mary Speak unfortunately passed away. In remembrance of her father, she left the greater part of her estate to be shared between Age Concern England & Menorca.
The rent, electricity, redecoration costs etc of this new property will be coming out of the Dr Speak's legacy and in her memory, the offices will be known as "The Dr Beatrice Mary Speak Centre"
