Shark sighting - Son Bou
While there was never cause for concern, the authorities ruled out yesterday that the shark sighted on Saturday was not still in the area . Boat cleaning of the coastline of the Ministry of Environment conducted a raid in the area, and no trace of the basking shark. This has led authorities to conclude that the shark is back to sea, while his physical condition predicts a complicated journey. The presence of the basking shark in the waters of Son Bou, and especially of its existence spread through the media, had created some excitement today on the beach. However, from the first moment it became clear that the shark, despite its size (about four meters long), was perfectly harmless, as it is known as a vegetarian shark. Furthermore, the strength of the certified shoreline cleanup Saturday that the animal was seriously injured on its belly, and even today does not rule out it could be dead somewhere on the Minorcan shoreline or in the next few days.
