David Sanchez (Puerto Rico, 1968) began with the drum to 8 years before switching to the tenor saxophone and later the soprano and alto, and even flute and clarinet. Installed in New York soon joins the action of jazz, with concerts by Eddie Palmieri, Claudio Roditi and Paquito D'Rivera, to merit the attention of the great Dizzy Gillespie.
He began to tour with people as important as Kenny Barron, Roy Haynes and the legendary Elvin Jones. Obsession, produced by Branford Marsalis earned his first Grammy nomination, also won with Melaza. Nocturne, with bassist Charlie Haden, is a successful collaboration with David Sanchez.
Sanchez supply around the world is a mixture of modern jazz with influences afrollatines. So in 2003 Gonzalo Rubalcaba accompanying world tour in France, Spain, Russia, Korea, Australia, etc.. In 2004 he collaborated with Dee Dee Bridgewater in a Latin Landscapes around the world also did a tour with the Pat Metheny known. David composes for many different configurations of band, duo, trio, or big band, while playing and teaching, often called here and there to lead music workshops and master classes.
