The institutions have no claims to water plan

Until yesterday, no City Council Menorca, not even the Island Council had submitted a claim to the draft Water Plan de Balears, instrument governing water policy in the Balearic Islands in the next 18 years and is undergoing public exposure . However, the deadline for amendments, which ends tomorrow, was extended yesterday for three months by the Department of Water Resources under the Ministry of Environment of Government.
Only the mayor of Es Mercadal, Ramon Orfila, the Government expressed concern about the need to open new wells to ensure the future supply of the municipality as well as the regent of Ferreries, Josep Carreras.
Orfila, commented that there is anticipation that the future water treatment plant in Port Addaia be reused for irrigation of the golf course Son Parc, Coves Noves and some farms in the area are creating a community of irrigators. For his part, Councilor for the Environment of the City Government of Sant Lluís, Segi Cruz, does not rule out presenting any argument. The mayor of Es Castell, Juan Cabrera, the town and explained that the allegations last June to the decree for the Management of Water Demand in the Balearic Government, some of which, he said, are already covered in the draft Water Plan. The regent of Alaior said that the claims of the town in this area are already contained in the General Urban Plan, the Es Migjorn was skeptical: "I do not think the arguments are worth too much for," he said. The Water Commission of Federació d 'Entitats Locals de les Illes Balears (FELIB) does not think so and has made several allegations about the distribution, collection and management of water.
Sources of the Council confirmed that this institution has not filed any claim, while studying the possibility of closing an agreement with municipalities Minorcan to present a joint proposal to the Govern consensus. The same sources noted that the insular institution has had several meetings with the Government on the Plan.
The total investment envisaged that the draft Water Plan Menorca in 2015 is significantly less than that fixed for the remaining islands. So while Menorca will receive 67.7 million euros, 500 Mallorca, Eivissa and Formentera 109.3 million 16.2.
