The Council will ensure a non-profit management of moorings

The safety of swimmers on the beaches and the non-profit management of berths and moorings are the two rotating axes on coastal management in which the Council, as noted by the department responsible for the Territory, Joan Marquis, who has highlighted the cases of Es and Es Grau Canutells are pilot projects that serve to an overall design of the mooring and anchoring off the coast of Menorca.
"There is a tacit commitment to the competent authorities not to approve any project that would jeopardize the organization that leads the Consell insular," said Marquis. The Corporation has no competence in the field, but has reached agreements with Costas, Balearic Ports and Maritime to coordinate actions that will determine the capacity of berths and moorings in the coves of Menorca.
The Council also reserves, according to Marquis, the ability to rescue the concessions can be given to users' associations and mooring, as established in Es Grau, "if it generates business management." The coordinating role of the insular institution in the management of berths and moorings was endorsed by the board of mayors, who are represented in the eight municipalities of the island, and local governments are responsible for zoning and bathing concessions are granted to different activities for the occupation of the land area.
"These activities are interrelated and are beyond the interests of a single municipality," said Marquis. According to the Minister for Planning, boating activity is increasing and in many bays in conflict with the safety of bathers, as in the case of Es Grau, which this summer will move the input channel for vessels and increase the blade of water for bathing. Management systems should ensure berths and moorings, according to Marquis, accessibility and transparency in the allocation of time of use of each item.
