Roy Hargrove to open “Menorca Jazz” festival
The internationally-renowned American trumpeter Roy Hargrove, accompanied by a quintet, will open the “Menorca Jazz” festival this year in a concert to be held in the Casino Nou, Ciutadella , on Good Friday, 10th April.
The next concert, in Maó’s Teatre Principal on 2nd May, will feature saxophonist David Sánchez, more usually found on the Latin music scene in New York, and six days later local pianist Marco Mezquida and his group will perform at the Casino Nou. Towards the end of May, Israeli trumpeter Avishai Cohen will appear at the Orfeó Maonès and the festival will be brought to a close on 5th June by drummer Marc Ayza and his group performing their latest record “Offering” in Ciutadella.
