Es Mercadal removes a rock from 4,000 tons in accessing Sa RocaToni Seguí Es Mercadal Es Mercadal The City Council has completed the demolition work of a 4,000 tons of rock representing a potential risk to road users access to the urbanization of Sa Roca. The consolidation of the road section affected by the work is pending only in the placement of an asphalt layer of plywood. Sa Roca alerted neighbors to the City of Es Mercadal release in 2006 of several large stones from a large rock from a height of 20 meters on the road to Sa Roca. After the municipal technical services in an inspection of the area, the City Council agreed to request a report from the engineer Caminos, Canales y Puertos, José Antonio Fayas to analyze the causes of landslides and propose a solution to the problem. The report, delivered in April 2007 identified the need to demolish the block of rock 20 meters high which excelled in the vertical position of the road, introducing a variety of cracks and fractures that had caused their displacement in an indeterminate time.
