Castillo de Sant Nicolau
Situated on high land at the entrance to the port of Ciutadella, the castle was constructed at the end of the seventeenth century to defend against attack from the sea. It is a tower in the shape of a truncated pyramid, with an octagonal floor, constructed from blocks of mares. Inside, a central column, also octagonal, supports an artillery platform on which there is a watch tower. The tower is surrounded by a moat, eight meters wide by two deep, with a bridge in front of the gate.
