Small game hunting season 2008-09 opened on Sunday
C.M.W. Maó
The small game hunting season 2008-2009 opened on 5th October and will last until 25th January 2009 (apart from rabbit hunting which will end earlier, on 28th December). Hunting will only be permitted on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays.
The season for hunting thrushes will start on 26th October, the days depending on the method of killing employed, and for partridges on 16th December, both lasting until 25th January next year.
Hunters should be aware that there are very strict regulations governing the activity as well as restrictions on the number of ‘bags’ permitted for each species with a given maximum for animals caught on private hunting grounds and another for those caught in the wild.
