Raising funds for the island’s dogs and cats
Open Monday to Saturday from 1000-1300 hrs. the Defensa Animales Menorca’s centre has a good selection of secondhand clothes and books on sale to raise money for the island’s stray dogs and cats. The ‘social centre’ (charity shop), which is situated in Son Vilar’s main square, near to the supermarket and chemist, also sells Christmas calendars and gifts to help fund ‘Cats in Need’.
The majority of the money raised by the shop and its hardworking volunteers is used to take dogs out of the local animal shelter and send them to selected new homes in Germany. The funds also go towards the neutering and feeding of stray cats around the island.
