Salvador Giménez Valls arrived in Menorca last Thursday to take up his post as apostolic adminstrator of the island, a position he will hold until a new bishop has been appointed to the see, the vacancy having been created by the departure of Bishop Joan Piris for the Catalan diocese of Lleida.
Giménez is currently Assistant Bishop of the Archdiocese of València, a position he has held since 2005.
The first decree to be signed by Giménez in his new role was to appoint Rafel Portella as Vicar General.
