Bridge construction will be important part of Me-20 roadwork
Work, expected to be finished in the early part of December, has begun on the Me-20 Ferreries to Es Migjorn road.
The existing bridge, which is recognised as having historic value, will be preserved. The new carriageway will be elevated above the bridge on a pre-fabricated platform.
The cross-section of the bridge will be enlarged from 4 metres to 10.9 metres; the actual road will be widened from 4 metres to 6.4 metres. The cost is estimated at 806,841 euros, with a commitment to finish the job in ninety days.

Thank goodness its being widened! used to hate driving across it as could not see if anything was coming in opposite way We went that way the other week and were diverted through the town, only to rejoin it the other side of the bridge. Found that the road had been tarmacked and some of the gulleys at the sides of the road filled in - thankfully!! ;D
