Last week’s visit to the island by the Balearic President, Francesc Antich, brought good news for ViveMenorca.
The local basketball team had been having financial difficulties but a meeting between Antich, Joana Barceló (the President of the Island Council) and José Luis Sintes (President of ViveMenorca) resulted in a promise that the Balearic Government would honour an agreement made with the previous government to give the club one million euros. The sum will be paid in two stages, 500,000 euros in the middle of this month and the other 500,000 in mid December. In addition the Menorcan club will receive a regular payment of two million euros for the next three years.
A better result than that of the third pre-season friendly game played by the team last Saturday which saw the local side lose the away match 83-80 to Plus Pujol Lleida.
