Shoe scanning device

Since last Thursday a shoe scanning device has been operating at Menorca Airport which can detect metallic elements hidden in footwear without the need for x rays. As a result, only passengers wearing high heels, long boots or thick soles will have to remove their footwear.

OMG!
Its a good invention but let me know that what is the benefit in terms of human utility ?
Obviously nothing then why do we use this ? Because it is essential for the human being's safety. Man is the enemy of other man. Such a innovation could have been used for absolute human need but it is being used for human security which is also a need indeed but it can not be equal to human absolute utility need(very sorry o say).

Where are we going still in 2013,all of us have to seriously think about this.
