DAY OF THE MINORCAN PEOPLE’S INSTITUTIONAL CONCERT

Celebration of the Day of the Minorcan People is a day that overflows with festivities and citizen participation, during which all sorts of public events will be taking place, with the island’s main authorities holding the starring role. To be highlighted is the concert that will take place at the Teatro Principal in Maó as of 21:00 hours, the same thanks to the collaboration of the Teatro Principal Foundation and the performance by the Symphonic Orchestra of the Balearic Islands, starring in a concert that will welcome in the New Year, apart from preparing the festivities to be celebrated on the day of San Antoni. The orchestra is directed by Philippe Bender and the concert is organized by the Minorca Island Government and the Public Foundation for Music of the Balearic Islands. On January 17th commemoration of the definitive incorporation (1287) of the island to the Crown of Aragon is celebrated, which continued under Muslim governance although as Vassal of the King of Majorca.
